The story begins with a photo from the colonial period, dating back to about a hundred years ago. Through this photo, I found out that many women worked in factories in Yeongdeungpo a long time ago, and that since the National Mobilization Law of 1938, young girls were forcibly mobilized to work in factories for war. However, their traces are nowhere to be found in Yeongdeungpo today.

For me, Yeongdeungpo is a space of anxiety and discomfort where unknown heterogeneous spaces intertwine, having lived here for so long. With that sense of feeling, I realized from a photo, that many women had worked in factories in Yeongdeungpo. Through the unknown stories that could not bypass the factory walls, I wanted to understand the disconnections and remember them.
