SYNOPSIS

2008년 7월 일본에서는 G8 정상회담이 열렸다. G8 정상들이 일본으로 모여드는 동안 G8에 반대하는 사람들 역시 일본으로 모여들었다. G8에 반대하는 사람들은 집회, 레이저텍 등 다양한 방법으로 반대의사를 표현했다. 그 중 하나가 정상회담이 열리는 윈저호텔 근방에 캠프를 차리는 것이었다. 그들은 캠프 안에서 대안적인 공동체를 꾸리는 한편 매일 원저호텔 근방으로 행진을 하면서 자신들의 목소리를 알려갔다. 비록 경찰에 의해 통제 당하고 감시당하면서 진행된 일들이지만 그들은 즐겁게, 그리고 당당하게 자신들의 목소리를 높여갔다.
지금 그들의 목소리는 작지만 그들은 그들의 목소리가 모두에게 들릴 때까지 지치지 않고 나아가리라.

DIRECTING INTENTION

한국이 한창 촛불 집회로 분주하던 2008년 7월 일본에서는 G8 정상회담이 개최되었다. 그리고 모여드는 정상들보다 훨씬 더 많은, 훨씬 더 다양한 사람들이 G8을 반대하기 위해 일본으로 모여들기 시작했다. 과연 사람들은 무엇 때문에 그 먼 거리를 건너 일본으로 넘어오는 것일까? 영상은 이런 질문에서 시작된다. 그리고 그들은 일본에서 무엇을 하고 있었던 것인지 그것을 알아보기 위해 카메라는 사람들을 따라가기 시작한다. 그렇게 사람들을 따라가던 카메라는 일본에서 벌어진 일들이 결코 그곳만의 일이 아님을 깨닫게 된다.
결론적으로 나는 사람들이 결코 잘못된 것들을 잘못되었다고 말하는 것에 있어 멈추지 않고 계속 나아갈 것임을 보여주고 싶었다. 아무리 고난이 있고 힘든 일이라고 해도 그들은 옳다고 믿는 것들이 있기 때문이다.

SYNOPSIS

In July, 2008 the G8 Summit was held in Japan. While the participants of the summit were gathering, the people opposing to the summit were also gathered in Japan. The opponents of the summit showed their view through demonstrations, laser-tech and et cetera. They also set up a camp near Windsor hotel where the summit was taking place and gathered an alternative assembly and marched around the hotel letting their voices out. Even though they were controlled and watched by the police, they kept on insisting on their claims. Their voices could be small now but they will keep on going till their voices could be heard.

DIRECTING INTENTION

When Korea was busy engaged in 'candlelight demonstration', the '34th G8 Summit' was being held in Japan in July, 2008. Many more, much more diverse people than the participants of the summit were gathering in Japan opposing to the summit. On what purpose were these people coming a long way to Japan? The film begins with this question. The camera follows these people to find out what they are doing, and it realizes that what was happening in Japan wasn't just happening in Japan. The purpose of this film was to show that people will not stop saying it's wrong about what is wrong and keep moving forward, for they have a faith about 'what is right' no matter what hardships they face.
