In the late 1980s, Hong Kong films were screened at theaters of the outskirts of Seoul, booming among the youths.Joo Yun-bal and Jang Kook-young, and two high school students Bora and Hyun-ji who are attracted to Hong Kong action films go to the theater with pocket money. But the theater shows XXX to these two girls.

I often chat with my friends saying "once upon a time, you know..." This is not only our reminiscence of the past. We talk about the past when we have something to compare with it now. It was my first time to see the XXX is based on a real story at a theater in my high school. Of course, it is a 'once upon a time' story. But, it is also a story of the present. Something serious 20 years ago becomes something funny in 20 years. A trivial thing 20 years ago can become a serious thing in 20 years. Isaw two different films of XXX 20 years ago, and now I make films to search for the meanings of XXX. I wish that the serious things of the protagonists could make the viewers feel funny , and that a trivial thing in the film could get the viewers to feel heavy.
