SYNOPSIS

A small lunch delivery shop, Picnic Cat, is a social enterprise to support out-of-school youths. It had sales of less than 10 million won in 2014, grew into a company that sold more than 50 million won in 2017. While the profit increases 5 times, what happened to this shop where poor youths and adults work together? The film is about a small shop and the people who face dilemmas between profit and worth day by day.

DIRECTING INTENTION

years ago, I started this documentary when the 'Picnic Cat' was much smaller than now. In the heart of accelerating competition era, the small shop's dream of being a 'working' and 'learning' place for the youths seemed lonely and precarious. I thought I might record the process of the shop bankrupt. But the shop didn't fail, even grew up noticeably. Then, would the company be close to it's purpose? While the profit increases 5 times, are the members of the shop happier? I faced thousands of questions and dilemmas in a small shop between maximizing profit and keeping human dignity. This film is to share the questions with people.
