SYNOPSIS
DIRECTING INTENTION

SYNOPSIS
Dalli, a sixth grader who looks after his younger siblings while his mother is busy, decides to forge some documents, fool the adults, and stage a family trip of his own.
DIRECTING INTENTION
Between an “unexcused absence” and an “off-campus experiential learning day” that is officially recognized as attendance lie many circumstances beyond a child’s control. Family structure, limited time and resources, unequal access to information, and a guardian’s working conditions can all shape what is possible for a child.
Through Dalli, who finds himself constrained by circumstances he did not choose, I wanted to portray with warmth a child who creates a small crack in the system and attempts his own quiet act of resistance.
