SYNOPSIS
해운대의 모래사장은 늘 같은 자리에 있던 풍경처럼 보인다. 그러나 이곳의 노인들은 지금과 다른 은빛 모래를 기억한다. 그 모래는 바뀌었고, 바뀌었다는 사실마저 지워졌다. 영화는 영국 해군의 해도, 식민지 홍보 전단, 군용 항공 사진, 현대의 관광 엽서를 따라가며, 지금의 해운대라는 장소가 외부의 시선이 골라온 이미지의 퇴적임을 드러낸다.
DIRECTING INTENTION
내 고향 해운대는 지금은 거대한 마천루로 둘러싸였다. 그러나 어르신들이 기억하는 해운대는 낯설고 사라진 옛 풍경으로 가득해, 내가 아는 곳과 쉽게 포개어지지 않는다. 영화는 단단한 지형을 매개로 단절된 시공간을 잇는다. 지도와 사진 속 지형을 현재의 좌표에 겹치고 잊힌 기억을 그 위에 놓으며, 기록이 어떤 목적 아래 무엇을 남기고 지워 왔는지 드러낸다.

SYNOPSIS
The sands of Haeundae Beach seem like a landscape that has always been there. Yet the elders who grew up here remember a different sand, silver in color. That sand was replaced, and even the fact of its replacement was erased. Following British naval charts, colonial-era promotional leaflets, military aerial photographs, and contemporary tourist postcards, the film reveals that the place we now call Haeundae is a sediment of images selected by outside gazes.
DIRECTING INTENTION
My hometown, Haeundae, is now encircled by skyscrapers. Yet the Haeundae the elders remember, full of vanished landscapes, does not easily overlap with the place I know. Using the solid forms of the terrain, the film bridges this severed time and space. Aligning old maps and photographs with present-day coordinates, it lays forgotten memories back upon the land and reveals what records have preserved and erased, and to what end.
