SYNOPSIS
당장 변제받아야 할 채권 때문이든 당장 변제해야 할 채무 때문이든, 빚으로 괴로워하는 이들의 발걸음 끊이질 않는 수원지방법원 성남지원의 어느 작은 법무사사무소를 조명한다. 8년 전 ‘나’는 법무사 아버지의 빚을 갚기 위해 그의 사무원이 된다. 나의 빚 많은 아버지와 의뢰인들의 이야기를 통하여 빚으로 말미암는 고통의 원인과 그 소멸의 길을 모색한다.

남들의 회생·파산 신청을 돕는 일을 하지만 정작 본인의 회생 신청이 절실한 법무사 아버지와 그를 위해 고군분투하는 사무원 아들의 이야기는 우리 삶 곳곳에 편재해 있는, 각종 빚에 얽매여 고통스러워하는 여러 사람들과 그 가족들과 맞닿아 있을 것이다. 이 작품이 부디, 내외적인 무거운 부채감을 떠안은 이들의 회생 신청의 첫 장이 되기를 바란다.

SYNOPSIS
A small judicial scrivener’s office near the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Court sees a steady stream of people tormented by debt, whether they are owed money or owe it. Eight years ago, I became a clerk there to help pay off the debts of my father, the judicial scrivener (beommusa). Through the stories of my debt-ridden father and his clients, the film looks for the roots of the suffering that debt brings, and for a way out of it.
DIRECTING INTENTION
My father, a judicial scrivener, helps others file for rehabilitation and bankruptcy, yet he himself desperately needs to file for rehabilitation. The story of him and his clerk son, who struggles on his behalf, will resonate with the many people and families everywhere who suffer under debts of every kind. I hope this film can be the first page of a rehabilitation petition for all who carry heavy burdens of debt, both financial and emotional.
