SYNOPSIS

In the early 2000s, during the rise of Seoul’s Hongdae indie scene, ‘Goonam’ (Goonam-gua-yeo-riding-stellar) emerged with a unique sound that did not belong to any particular genre. For 20 years, frontman JOH Ung stayed true to his original desire to make music that felt natural, like a grandmother’s lullaby, rather than simply imitating something else. Along the way, the band built friendships with people they met across Korea, finding joy together and creating their own spaces to make and share music. But refusing to belong to a genre and choosing to build something independently also meant staying outside the music ‘market.’
In 2025, on the band’s 20th anniversary, ‘Goonam’ announced their breakup and set out on their final journey, the ‘Annyeong Tour’ (Goodbye Tour). The film follows their 20-year journey as they try to hold on to music, friendship, and the simple value of having ‘fun.’
