SYNOPSIS
2013년 이석기 내란음모 사건을 이유로 2014년 당시 제 2 야당이었던 통합진보당이 헌법재판소의 판결로 해산됐다. 그리고 한 달 뒤 대법원은 '이석기 내란음모' 무죄를 선고했다. 이 영화는 통합진보당 해산과 관련된 당사자, 주변관계자, 그리고 그 과정을 지켜본 사람들을 인터뷰 한다. 서로 다른 생각과 입장, 여론과 거짓 정보, 헌법과 민주주의 그리고 북에 대한 인식 등 인터뷰 내용을 따라가다 보면 우리는 뒤늦은 질문과 마주하게 된다. 우리가 놓친 건 무엇일까?

바쁘다. 복잡하다. 너무 힘들다. 그런데 사건은 많고 소통은 안 된다. 내 문제도 버거운데 연대 할 일은 많다. 연대는 하지만 내용은 잘 모른다. 전문가는 많은데 한 가지 분야만 전문가다. 네트워크는 거미망처럼 넓은데 내 생각을 말하는 게 겁난다. 사람을 만나는 게 힘들다. 사람들은 점점 골방에서 세계와 소통한다. 익명의 주장들이 인터넷에 등장하고 버젓이 뉴스가 된다." 국회의원 이석기가 내란음모를 했대" 내가 생각하고 있는 것이 정말 나의 생각인 것일까. 사상의 자유는 한물 간 이야기고 검열은 모든 분야에 일상이 되었지만 모두가 전력을 다해 살아내야 한다. 한마디로 우린 모두 좀비가 됐다는 얘기다.

SYNOPSIS
In 2014, the United Progressive Party (UPP), the second largest opposition party at the time in South Korea, went through dissolution by the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the grounds of the case in 2013 where Lee Seokki, a UPP lawmaker, was charged and tried for treason conspiracy. One month later, the Supreme Court decided that Lee was not guilty. This documentary is composed of interviews with the people directly affected by the dissolution of the party, people around them, and those who had followed the case. As we watch, the interviews reveal differences in people’s opinions and stances. By tracking on such different positions, public opinion, false information, and perceptions on the Constitution, democracy and North Korea, we come face to face with a belated question. What have we missed?
DIRECTING INTENTION
Social activists complain about their life being busy, complicated, and life is hard on all. There seem to be so many issues at stake but communication is not so easy. Organizations are already struggling with their own agenda when there are so many other issues in need of solidarity. They try to keep up the solidarity, but remain unfamiliar with the issues other than their own. There are many specialists, but only in their singular field. The social network service environment is broad, but I am afraid to let out my thoughts. I find it difficult to meet people in person. More and more people communicate from their isolated rooms. Anonymous opinions populate the internet and disguise themselves as news: “Congressman Lee Seokki conspired to overthrow the government.” Are our thoughts really our own? Freedom of thought has become a thing of the past, and censorship has become a part of our lives, but we have to grit our teeth and live on. In short, we have all become zombies.
