SYNOPSIS
구로동 아파트에는 세 사람이 산다. 나, 엄마 그리고 나의 친할아버지.
아빠가 돌아가신지 12년이 흘렀지만 여전히 우리는 한 집에 산다.
감정기복이 심한 할아버지와 사는 것이 힘든 나는 궁금했다. 엄마는 왜 시월드에서 나오지 않는 걸까?
궁금증이 커져가던 어느날…
할아버지는 우리에게 집에서 나가달라고 말씀하셨다.
DIRECTING INTENTION
한국 사회의 여성에겐 결혼과 동시에 세 가지 역할이 주어진다. 딸같은 며느리, 지고지순한 아내 그리고 친구같은 엄마. 나의 엄마는 이 역할을 묵묵히 수행한 한국의 전형적인 어머니였고, 그 모습을 지켜보며 자란 나는 결혼을 혐오하는 여성이 되었다.
엄마는 갑작스레 20년 간 같이 살아온 시아버지 집에서 쫓겨나 새집을 장만해야 하는 상황에 떠밀린다. 오래 전부터 할아버지 집에서 탈출하고 싶었던 나는 궁금해졌다. 무엇이 엄마가 이 집을 스스로 떠나지 못하게 만든 걸까. 왜 순탄치 않았던 결혼 생활에도 불구하고 딸인 나에게 결혼을 강요하는 걸까.

SYNOPSIS
Three people live in Doosan Apartment in Guro-dong. Me, mom, and my grandfather. Even though it has been 12 years since dad died, we are still living under the same roof. I thought it was because of the financial situation that we could not move out of grandfather’s house. But when I found out that mom already had enough money to get a house, I became confused. Why didn’t mom move out from the “x-world” when she could? From a marriage that didn’t work out well, to a father-in-law with a temper. Why has she been enduring it, unchanging, for all the time I had witnessed her life to become a woman against marriage? One day when my anxiousness was at its peak, grandfather suggested that we live separately. Mom, reluctant to leave Guro-dong that she’d been living in for 20 years and her marriage life, will she be able to find herself and move out well?
DIRECTING INTENTION
In Korea, every woman is imposed with three roles upon marriage: a daughter-in-law as good as a biological one, an obedient wife, and a friend-like mother. My mom performed her tasks without complaining, and watching her while growing up made me become a woman who loathed marriage. Mom represented the typical motherhood in Korea, a mother who willingly makes sacrifice for the family. However, what she faced in return was a cruel reality of which forced her to move out from the house she had lived in for twenty years. I, having wanted to escape from my grandfather's house for a long time, became curious. What kept mom from moving out herself? Why was she trying to get me married, when she wasn't happy herself? I wanted to talk about the meaning of marriage and family in a woman's life, while following on the life of a woman who lost herself in marriage.
