DIRECTING INTENTION

SYNOPSIS

Thrust into labor activism after a sudden layoff, a veteran worker near retirement resolves to finally live for his family. But when a local chemical disaster strikes, he dives headfirst into a chemical safety campaign instead—drawing the deep resentment of his frustrated daughter. As their conflict comes to a head, a hidden, shared trauma comes to light, unraveling the painful secret at the core of their strained bond.

DIRECTING INTENTION

A veteran labor activist once endured a 132-day sit-in on a narrow, meter-wide ledge atop a 50-meter chimney. Yet I watched him make remarks at a government-hosted public event that seemed to side with the companies. Had he betrayed his cause, or was there a deeper, unspoken story behind his actions? What began as a compelling question evolved into a four-year journey of close observation, ultimately leading me face-to-face with an unexpected chapter of his past. Through this exploratory journey, I wanted to share with the audience the complex and unspoken truths buried beneath a lifetime of struggle.
