SYNOPSIS
길에서 태어난 고양이 레니는 무지한 인간에 의해 엄마 고양이와 억지로 헤어지게 되었다. 그리고 얼마 안가 버림을 받아 다시 길로 내쳐진다. 다행히 구조가 되긴 했지만 임시 보호처를 옮겨 다니다 지금의 집사를 만났다. 도시의 삶에 지쳐 있던 레니의 집사이자 다큐멘터리 영화 감독 희섭은 자신과는 다른, 각자의 방식대로 ‘공존’을 실천중인 다양한 고양이 집사들의 이야기를 카메라에 담기로 했다.
DIRECTING INTENTION
직장에서 돌아오는 지친 귀갓길에서, 허전한 밤 야식을 사러 나가던 골목길에서, 추위와 배고픔을 묵묵히 견뎌내는 길고양이들을 모른 척 하지 못해 사료 한 줌을 던져주던 것이 어느 새 사료 봉투와 캔을 챙겨 어두운 밤 뒷골목을 돌아다니며 길고양이들의 밥을 챙겨주는, 자발적인 집사가 되어가는 사람들이 있다. 그러나 그들은 길고양이 만큼이나 사람들에게 손가락질을 받고 수난을 당한다. 그렇게까지 하는 이유가 뭐냐고 물어보면 그 대답역시 한결같다.
“제가 올 때까지 기다리니까요.”
차가운 시멘트 바닥 위에 앉아 한없이 기다리다 자신들을 알아보고는 눈을 반짝이며 다가오는 아이들을 포기할 수 없다고 한다. 나는 그들이 가장 낮은 곳에서 ‘공존’을 실천하고 있는 사람들이라 느껴졌다.

SYNOPSIS
Born on the street, Lenny was forced to part with her mother by an ignorant human being. Soon after she was abandoned and taken back to the road. Fortunately, she was saved, and lived in temporary shelters til she met her present butler. Lenny's butler and documentary film director, Hee-seop, who was tired of city life, decides to take the camera to tell the story of various cat butlers who are practising "coexistence" in their own ways, different from his own.
DIRECTING INTENTION
On the weary way home from work, on the way out to buy empty night snacks, for some people, what had started as a throw of few grains, has now turned into a habit of proper feeding of the cats. It was those who could not help noticing the street cats enduring the cold and hunger. However, they have long been criticized and harassed by people. When asked why they continue to feed the cats, the answer was consistent: "Because they wait for me." They say that they can not let the cats donw, sitting on the cold cement for all day long, recognizing and approaching them with glistening eyes. I felt that there was a practice of a certain co-existence there at the lowest level.
