SYNOPSIS
In 2010, the Education Ministry decided to bring back the former members of the university that had been expelled for corruption. I saw a fellow student crying angrily at the decision on YouTube. He was 'Seung-hyun'. I wasn't interested in school matters, but I thought I should join him. I was then at the center of the struggle and became a graduate who cannot leave school
DIRECTING INTENTION
Sometimes an incident changes one’s life entirely. We saw ordinary people protesting against the previous regime to build a sensible and moral society, rather than protesting for a great ideology. The protagonists of this film had to face and endure the situations that an individual cannot take control of. Those who went through such time had their own reasons to fight; trust and responsibility. Since 2009, I have carried on recording this fight just to be with those people for 10 years. I was driven and influenced by some of those people, who led my life to a whole different world, which I had never expected. I try to look back at the last 10 years of Korea with an incident that happened at an university. This will reveal how the privileged have been like in this society. The Candlelight Revolution in 2016 started from the citizens who resisted against those people.
