SYNOPSIS
Recent appearances of wild boars are having a negative impact on crops and residents. In response, the Korean government is declaring a “war on wild boars” and establishing hunting grounds. Three hunters who live in Gyeongnam Euiryung, one of the designated hunting grounds, begin their hunt. One day a TV network produces a staged reality show that features village residents and professional hunters. On the last day of the season, the hunters head out for one last hunt. The view of the car window is filled with a damaged landscape plagued by heavy deforestation.
DIRECTING INTENTION
Wild boars that have lost their homes and food sources due to habitat destruction are forced to come down to cities and farms creating conflict with people. To limit further population expansion, a “war on wild boars” is declared and hunting on a massive scale takes place. The film examines whether such short-sighted management programs focused on quick visible results represent best practices that derive from careful review of the root cause.
