SYNOPSIS

There is a woman in early 40s at a mining town deep in the mountains of Gangwon, Korea. Her husband who abandoned her and daughter several years ago, returns to town. He proposes that they leave to Seoul together. She now has a choice. She can either go to Seoul and start a new life or stay in this morbid town with lover. Her choice is the crux of the film.

DIRECTING INTENTION

What the endless pit that leads to the center of the earth gives you is not only fear but also a certain comfort. The excitement that is both horror and comfort explains the woman in the narrative, myself, and people in general well. People are neither ethical nor evil. Like the mountain that surrounds the village, what sustains our being is something much bigger, darker, and more abundant.
