SYNOPSIS
Ji-young, a contract worker, clears out her belongings on her last day at work. Just before leaving, Tae-young from the HR team asks her to return her employee ID. Reluctant to give it up, Ji-young hesitates, but the company insists that the ID must be used by the next employee. In the end, she leaves the office with only trivial items, feeling a sense of lingering regret. However, at the bus stop, an urgent matter forces her to return to the company. Without her ID, she finds herself locked out and stuck at the entrance. Fortunately, with the help of a new female employee who is set to take her place, Ji-young manages to re-enter the building. Standing at the crossroads between departure and a new beginning, Ji-young confronts the complex emotions of transition.
DIRECTING INTENTION
As a director currently working in a corporate environment, I heard that the talented and sociable female employee who managed our company at the client’s end had left. The reason was the end of her contract. Only then did I realize that she had been a contract worker. She was one of the best at her job. Reflecting on her last day, I wanted to offer comfort to the many contract workers facing their own final days. I wish to convey a small message of solace: it’s neither despair nor hope—it’s just another day.
