The lettuce seeds I received from a neighboring grandmother have now grown and multiplied in an urban flowerpot. Seeing this, I am reminded of the grandmother's yard, her cat, the sound of her steps, and her hands - the hands of a village artisan who nurtured the life around her. Her proudly told old tales are carried away on the wind that remains at the site of her former home. The physical pain that began in her serves as a reminder of the body's complicated entanglements, and the unseen ripple effect left by countless grandmothers across the world.

I tried to capture the ordinary yet extraordinary stories of those who, though not the protagonists of any grand event, have quietly sustained their communities - in a non-linear form much like their own lives.
