SYNOPSIS
Sun and Haesu, both 12 years old, have been close friends for a long time. Sun has always struggled in making her own decisions and tends to do what Haesu suggests. When Sun learns that Haesu is moving to the United States, she feels devastated. On the same day, Haesu falls into a deep pit in the woods near her home.
DIRECTING INTENTION
Every moment demands a choice, a constant fork in the road. Perhaps growing up is simply learning to make these choices and never look back. The protagonist stands precisely on the border between childhood and young womanhood. Feeling perpetually less mature than her peers, she yearns for a passive existence. However, when she is finally forced to make her first truly independent choice, the momentum takes hold. She must move forward, there is no going back. Yet, the path is fraught with difficulty. She senses something following her and struggles to avoid making any further decisions. The fear of the paths she hasn't taken - the regret, the vulnerability, the guilt of missed possibilities - haunts her, both in reality and in her mind's eye. Even as she tries to push these fears away and close her eyes, they relentlessly return, demanding attention.
