A Boy's tooth is loose and his Mother has marked a date to have the tooth pulled. The Boy is terrified of the pain; it may as well be a death sentence. The fear causes immense anxiety and he spirals down into a web of nightmares and irrational ways to avoid his Mother.

One of the most traumatic experiences from my childhood was when I first had to get my tooth pulled. This natural rite of passage forces us to depart from the soft foods of our childhood into the solid foods of our teenage years and beyond - that is until we lose them again in our old age. This bit of pain and trauma makes our teeth stronger and metaphorically, it suggests a departure from the old and weak to the new and strong, a life lesson learned.
