There are gloves, shoes, beverage bottles and fruit peels on the shoulder of the road. And there beside the waste thrown away by humans, there is a little bundle of fur resembling a rag. A piece of rag that a few minutes ago throbbed with life and warm red blood just like us humans. It is a rabbit that wanted to go to the other side of the road and they were a family of water deer that wanted to go to the springs for a drink of water. Countless lives and species are perishing on the "road" – a contrivance of mammals called humans which is used for the faster movement of consumable goods. However, the truth is being concealed not revealed. Further erodingthe habitat of the dwellers of Mother Earth, the road is even now being expanded. For the first time in Korea, Taeyoung, Chunkwon and Donggi investigate in earnest roadkills. We step into the middle of the dangerous road filled with speeding cars. They for the investigation and I for the filming.

Dwellers of Mother Earth. Perhaps I volunteered the role of a novice shaman who wants to convey their message. I would have interviewed their souls if possible. But since I could not, I tried to imagine what they did before the accident, what desires they had, what they must have felt when stepping on to the roads of humans and what the device called ‘vehicles’ will look like to them. I didn’t want to make a film that simply cries for the protection of wildlife. I wanted to even avoid using the term "wildlife" because it implies that they are object that are "not human." The ‘dwellers of Mother Earth’ are my sisters and brothers who are born to this world and live with me and I wanted their direct voices to tell their stories. Did humans ever ask for permission while destroying Earth and marginalizing the old dwellers into minors, the weak and near extinction? Where will we reach after running full speed on this structure called road?
