DIRECTING INTENTION
While I was studying in Poland for seven years and staying on a residency program in France for about a year, I came to wonder about the lives of people who choose to live somewhere other than their native country. This is the story of a Korean woman who married a French man, acquiring French nationality, but goes through a divorce ten years later. The intense anxiety she feels as a result of divorce, spurs in her a certain kind of illusion on the interpretation of her own life. She feels she is in Seoul though she is actually in Paris. Seoul is so vivid to her, that it seems real and true. She immerses herself in idealized old memories, like the time when studying theater with her friends in Seoul, whilst in Paris where she was actually living in, goes through tragedies of terrorism. Such mix of time and space, of fantasy and reality, and the ways we manipulate our minds into creating what we need in reality at the time, is interesting to explore.
