SYNOPSIS

Socialist feminist JU Sejuk(1901-53) was subject to exile by Stalin. She found herself in Central Asia in a vicinity of Cosmodrome. This brings forth to SFdrome facing future and past in a “strange” place of Sci-Fi dwelt by JU Sejuk.

DIRECTING INTENTION

As I have been working on the ‘Exile Trilogy’ (<Sound of Nomad: Koryo Arirang> etc.) in Central Asia, I came to know the existence of JU, Sejuk as well as Cosmodrome the launching pad in Kazakhstan. I hope to evoke a new link and a constellation with a socialist feminist who fought under the colonial rule for women and the world. Inviting socialist feminist Flora Tristan to this space by reanimating JU, Sejuk's writing, I wanted to show long lasting entanglements among revolutionary women.
