SYNOPSIS

Me and my family used to visit the tomb annually when I was a child. Who buried there was known as "Tiger Kim". He was husband of my grandmother`s elder sister. My grandfather had worked for him, that`s how my grandparents met each other. He`d been a high ranking government official long time ago. People called him "Tiger Kim" cause he was so brave and I`ve felt being proud of him. However, as I grew older later, I`ve got to know shocking story about him and our family. I wanted to dig up some more and I did.

DIRECTING INTENTION

An encounter of Korean modern history and individual family history. At first, I tried to hide behind the camera as a
director. But it seems cowardly as filming goes on. After all, I go before the camera and start my simple and rustic narration.
I approach from a perspective of the third person to that of the first person with honesty as possible as I can. Ibelieve that
sharing and feeling in the perspective of the first person is more important than arraying a kind of objective facts in the
perspective of the third person. In the aspect of film, 'sentiments and stories' could be more important than the
'arrangement of facts and explanations' in which I try to approach the style of feature films believing it could deliver a 'fact'
that 'a horrible thing happens' better. Isn't the beginning of film a documentary?
This film which has started with a private experience and a kind of coincidence becomes a 'private documentary' follows
with weird coincidences. This film after all becomes a story which I can tell only once in my life.
