For the young woman captivated by memories of uncertainty and loneliness, the story of "The Little Mermaid" is more than a chilhood fairytale about romantic love. When she intervenes the narrative continuity of the story seen on television, the dramatic threads of betrayal transformation, and death become haunting images of libidinal desire and anxiety. In the fantasty world that the woman constructs and participates in, the mermaid, played by a doll, has to travel through and endure much more cruel and violent events.

‘인어공주’ 동화 속의 억압된 성과 미학에 매료되어, 이 독특한 미학을 가부장적 권위로 팽배한 현실의 틀 안에서 풀어내면 어떨까.. 하는 생각이 들었다. 아름다움의 상징인 마론 인형과 그와 동일시를 하고자 하는 소녀를 ‘분라꾸’ 기법과 마술적 요소를 사용해 형식을 파격시킨 실험영화로 꾸며보았다.
