SYNOPSIS
Ah Ting (lead) finds out in a letter from his girlfriend that their relationship has ended because of an American guy. Henceforth, he despises all American things while trying to go to America and win his love back. Ah Ting and his 2 close friends decide then to rob an underground foreign exchange shop. In their criminal endeavor for their "American dream," they experience the backlashes of crime. But not all is lost; they discover new buds of hope and meaning after their escapade.
DIRECTING INTENTION
The director of this film felt that the idea of an "American dream,"is blurry and is filled with contradiction. We have all experienced the idea of hating America, all the while wanting to go there. It’s much like the idea of hating Japan, but loving the films of Akira Kurosawa. The reality of it all is that life itself is full of contradictions.
