SYNOPSIS
A worker who has been working only in guitar factories for 30 years suddenly becomes a fired worker. The company shut down factories and laid off workers. In the struggle against injustice, Jaechun experiences a new life despite unfair and frustrating years. While he was reluctant to appear in front of people, now he speaks the lines of Shakespeare and Kafka on the theater stage, and also plays cajon in the band. Young, wonderful friends who support guitar workers' struggle are together, and the world he previously believed in is denied. The middle-aged man who only made guitars in a rural factory is called “Sister J” and becomes a person who makes people laugh. However, the struggle, which he thought would end in 1~2 years, has passed 10 years, Jaechun is heartbreaking. Because he is separated from the house in Daejeon and cannot take care of his two daughters. When the dismissal lawsuit, which he expected to win because it was an unfair layoff, finally loses and seems to have nothing more to do, Jaechun, who reads poems and writes “struggle diary,” does something unexpected.
DIRECTING INTENTION
I tried to express the conflicts and changes of individuals that were not seen by the cause of the labor movement. A middle-aged man living as a worker who only goes back and forth between the factory and the home has an unexpected time after being fired. He leads a different life by being placed in a different arrangement. What made layoffed workers of Cort-Cortek, known as Korea's longest fighting workplace, survive without dying? Unusually, Cortek guitar workers brought out the solidarity of more diverse cultural artists than anywhere else. They created activities that could attract people without staying in the customary struggles of workers. The broken time after layoffs becomes a time full of possibilities of other life at the point of the crack. It wasn't just a life stuck in the victim's anger and resentment, but the time learning new languages and establishing different relationships and surpassing themselves.
