SYNOPSIS
Inspired by a true parenticide crime, “Somewhere Beyond the Mist” tells a story about a teenage killer, Connie, and a policewoman, Angela. While the latter is just pregnant, the former was born with an incurable heart septal defect. Also, Connie, due to her sickness, traps his classmate, Eric, who is a gay, to commit the murder together. The case is not only cruel and heartless but also, in fact, quite intriguing and puzzling. After the killing, Connie and Eric, staying with the corpses in the same bedroom over a week, then at last dump them in a nearby reservoir. Without fleeing away, actually when enjoying her last and long-awaited vacation in a hostel at the highest mountain in Hong Kong, Connie surrenders herself to Angela voluntarily and calmly. The film is not a detective story, nor giving a reason or excuse of this cold-blooded killing. Actually, it shows, as Dostoevsky said, "People, even wicked people, are far more naive and simple-hearted than one generally assumes." Also, the film is filled with a mood of darkness with abrupt violence that echoes with Hong Kong current atmosphere.
