Sixteen year-old girl Jeong-ae receives a letter from her mother, Young-ok Noh, who left home long ago. Jeong-ae is living with her father Young-ho Yoon in the redevelopment area of Seoul. Young-ho was diagnosed with an end-stage cancer and is waiting for his death while giving up treatment. He tells Jeong-ae that giving up makes everything easier. Jeong-ae is on her way to find her long lost mother, thinking that it is her only hope left.
