SYNOPSIS

S is a suicide designer who assists people to commit suicide according to their own style. When a man’s loved one kills herself, he decides to investigate it and finds out that S is behind the suicide. This movie is an adaptation of Kim Young-Ha’s novel [I Have the Right to Destroy Myself] and it portrays the modern people’s desire to end their lives aesthetically and their hidden loneliness and emptiness. It was PPP’s choice film at the 7th Pusan International Film Festival and France’s Unlimited participated in the financing of the film.

1959년 속초에서 태어나서 파리영화연출학교(E.S.R.A)와 파리 7대학, 8대학원을 졸업했다.

현재 경성대 연극영화과 교수이며 동녘필름 대표이다. 데뷔작 [내 안에 우는 바람](1998)은 제1회 부산 국제영화제에서 운파상을 수상하고 제50회 칸느국제영화제의 주목할만한 시선에 초청.

두 번째 작품 <새는 폐곡선을 그린다>는 베니스 국제영화제 '새로운 분야'에 초청, 제4회 부산국제영화제 뉴커런츠부문에서 넷팩상을 수상하고 스위스 프리부르그 영화제에서 대상을 받았다.
