In 2014, the United Progressive Party (UPP), the second largest opposition party at the time in South Korea, went through dissolution by the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the grounds of the case in 2013 where Lee Seokki, a UPP lawmaker, was charged and tried for treason conspiracy. One month later, the Supreme Court decided that Lee was not guilty. This documentary is composed of interviews with the people directly affected by the dissolution of the party, people around them, and those who had followed the case. As we watch, the interviews reveal differences in people’s opinions and stances. By tracking on such different positions, public opinion, false information, and perceptions on the Constitution, democracy and North Korea, we come face to face with a belated question. What have we missed?

Social activists complain about their life being busy, complicated, and life is hard on all. There seem to be so many issues at stake but communication is not so easy. Organizations are already struggling with their own agenda when there are so many other issues in need of solidarity. They try to keep up the solidarity, but remain unfamiliar with the issues other than their own. There are many specialists, but only in their singular field. The social network service environment is broad, but I am afraid to let out my thoughts. I find it difficult to meet people in person. More and more people communicate from their isolated rooms. Anonymous opinions populate the internet and disguise themselves as news: “Congressman Lee Seokki conspired to overthrow the government.” Are our thoughts really our own? Freedom of thought has become a thing of the past, and censorship has become a part of our lives, but we have to grit our teeth and live on. In short, we have all become zombies.
