SYNOPSIS

Paki and Minjae work in a furniture factory. Dreaming of becoming actors, the two get the chance to audition. While preparing for the film, however, Paki's undocumented status is revealed, and he has to abandon his acting career. Paki and Minjae grow apart because of a lie Minjae said to save him, and at the same time Paki is kicked out of his factory during a crackdown.

DIRECTING INTENTION

This movie contains my experiences and feelings of working as a Bangladesh immigrant in South Korea for 16 years. It was inspired by the story of my Bangladesh friend whose dream of becoming an actor was thwarted by his status as a so-called “illegal immigrant,” as well as the pain of being unable to achieve one's dream despite being a Korean citizen. Friendship between immigrants and Koreans, built by sharing their lives together, is another theme of this movie.
