To Kill or Follow the Shadow (2025) begins with the reverberation of Arirang (1926), remembered as a milestone in Korean cinema. Though the original film is lost, its story has lived on through rumors, passed from audience to audience. This work overlays new rumors onto the old, allowing memories and testimonies to seep through the missing scenes and absent voices. In the darkness, as the 'one who sees' and the 'one being seen' acknowledge one another, the audience is transformed from a witness into a participant in a new narrative.
