We were 16 years old, our wage for working 14 ~15 hours was a mere 70 won, half the amount of what men were receiving. Furthermore, the job required enduring personal humiliation, violence and sexual harassment from male supervisors. We women decided to put a stop to such injustices. We overturned the male-centered company union and set up the first women’s executive chapter with a female director who would represent our own interests. However, the government, the company and the company union came together to break our women’s democratic union through organized violence and blackmail. We fought fiercely, but eventually were fired. Thirty years have passed and now in our fifties, we are continuing our endless fight.
