SYNOPSIS
Witch Wander Whistle is a documentary about how Tokyo moves forward from the Heisei era to the Reiwa era. By delivering three monologues - a girl comparing the lifespan of robots and humans at the site of a radiological leak in Fukushima, the beginning and the end of Peter Hantke's novel Repeat, and a letter to a friend left in Tokyo – this film depicts the ongoing construction of the New Olympic Stadium.
DIRECTING INTENTION
The three words, witch, wander and whistle, are some of the examples of foreign language orthography in Korean textbooks. These three words, which are not related at all, are written side by side just because they share similar phoneme. I tried to collect the scenery of Tokyo that resembles fast speed, something disappearing quickly, and sounds left in the air, which are originated from these three words. After living in Tokyo for 2 years, I convey a farewell to the city by recapturing the rapidly changing landscape.
