SYNOPSIS

The cherry trees planted where waves of history passed bear abundant fruit. Raisa, Tamara, Rafael, Sonya, Vladimir, Lera, Konstantin. We will not forget the names of the people we met on this journey. Nor the bittersweet taste of the cherries.

DIRECTING INTENTION

Our journey began in Ushtobe. The forced relocation of 1937 meant a new beginning for the ethnic Koreans living in the former Soviet Union. After passing through harsh times of cold and poverty, what kind of lives are the people who remained there living now? And what thoughts do they have about their 'roots'?
